YG Chapter History
In October of 2005, the initial steps were taken to expand Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. to the Northwest. Nicole Casillas, a California State University Dominguez Hills Alumna and University of California Irvine Alumni, took on the challenge and began taking the appropriate measures to recruit on the University of Washington campus. Various presentations were conducted to student organizations and clubs with the primary goal of gaining interest. The informational proved encouraging and soon the Founding Line for the University of Washington Colony was inducted. Throughout their education process this group of women attended and hosted events that would help them gain recognition amongst their peers. On August 13, 2006 the Founding Line at the University of Washington crossed.
The Founders quickly began recruiting for their Alpha line at the beginning of Fall Quarter 2006. Again, they found great interest and Alpha Line was crossed February 13, 2007. Sigma Lambda Gamma continued to grow very quickly at the University of Washington. With the addition of two more lines; Beta Line in the summer of 2007 and Gamma Line in the Winter of 2008, the University of Washington colony was granted chapter status on March 26, 2008 . Since that time, the UNSTOPPABLE Upsilon Gamma Chapter has flourished, quickly becoming one of the largest multicultural sororities on campus. We strive to live our five principles to the fullest in every day of our lives and welcome new women into our distinctive sisterhood.
